Playstation Memory Card Reader Project |
|
Welcome! There are many, many designs to choose from, but I used Direct Pad Pro, which, in fact, is compatable with Memory Card CS. (The program used in conjunction with this device to read and write the cards to your computer.) If you want it- check the Software/Source section.
Keep in mind that any of the mentioned design will only work for PSOne Memory Cards.
SSTrans is not responsible for any damages you cause to your hardware because you didnt follow the instructions carefully. Believe me, I've fried a couple memory cards. So be careful! The Schematics are based off of the Direct Pad Pro Schematics- the only difference is the added LED. I used this because it makes it look cool! and... to drain excess voltage. |

Materials Needed:
PSX MemCard Port, Multiadapter, or you can make your own connector.
Male DB25 (Printer Connector)
LM317 Voltage Regulator (or LM317T or LM317LZ)
LED(s)
Digital or analog MultiMeter/MultiTester
7-7.5V DC Power Source (7 without LED, 7.3-7.5 with)
Note: The memory card reader will only work (in what I've tried) between 6.8 and 7.2 volts on mem card pin 3. You can use LEDs in series to deplete excess voltage. The schematic below shows only one, but you may use as many as it takes. I actually used one large and one small LED because it was all I had laying around. Pin 5 needs between 3.3-3.7 volts which is what the voltage regulator is for. In some cases, insufficient or too much voltage will allow the device to read, but not write. Careful though! If you get too far off track you could damage your PSX memory cards, resulting in data loss and in some cases it will render the card useless.
Schematics:(Direct Pad Pro with my tiny addition.)
